10/30/2017 0 Comments the hamI don't often buy expensive cuts of meat. Mostly because it's expensive. And the few times I do I normally regret it. I also don't extensively plan ahead meals, with multiple meals out of one cut of meat, crockpot recipes, etc. Because I also normally regret it.
Like the time I bought a delicious bone in ham that I simmered in the crock pot all day. My house smelled insanely delicious. I had plans (and even bought the ingredients) for ham and pea soup, ham and scalloped potatoes and ham and veggies. Perfect right? So out I pulled the wonderful ham, tasted its perfection and began carefully cubing the ham for my many uses. And after running quickly downstairs I came up to find that Xena had also felt the same way about the smells coming from my crockpot. She had climbed onto the counter and ATE THE WHOLE THING!!!!! I threw out the bone I had saved in front of her in retaliation.

10/30/2017 0 Comments main floor bathroom"You will absolutely love having a bathroom on the main floor!"
Will I? Because I currently don't. I have a very busy 11 month old who is obsessed with water and a 3 year old who is still mastering the art of bladder control. Which means the door can never be closed or there will be pee on the floor. But it also means the door can never be open or Harper will be in the toilet faster than my dog. Harper is a bathroom water ninja. If the tap/shower/bath is running guarantee Harper is there. I don't even know how she does it. But somehow she does. It's like she has supersonic hearing and any time the bathroom door is opened she is instantly teleported there. And potty training means pee everywhere, even just little dribbles. Shiloh thinks peeing like a big girl is sitting on the cold porcelain seat. Apparently she is still struggling with gender differences and the different bathroom requirements. But needless to say there are dribbles of pee everywhere that Harper crawls through. I even was called the bathroom with cries of "Mom I'm pooping and Harper's in here" only to find Harper standing between Shiloh's knees proudly waving a nice big chunk of Shiloh's poop. The bathroom has even become another hide out for my professional hoarder/hider. Shiloh loves to hide the most random things in the most random places. I'm constantly checking her purses and little hidden corners for food, keys, cups, rocks, leaves, etc. She discovered the toilet pipe can hide items, beloved items like her heart of Tefiti necklace. I found myself elbows deep in an unflushed toilet searching for the precious heart. I'd rather face the Kakamora. 10/22/2017 1 Comment house updatesSo... the Internet has arrived!!! We have had it for about 2 weeks but it feels like I'm still catching up on the weeks (okay months) without it. Which makes me sound like a total millennial. But seriously! I've had a lot of emails, messages, etc that I didn't deem important enough to answer using stolen Wifi. And okay, a Netflix show. Or 10. But here we are and I'm hoping the blog posts will be a bit more regular now.
Here are a few pictures from our adjustment to the beautiful town of Caledonia. The kids were a little bummed when we began to settle in more fully and starting using the proper furniture for its correct function. We have a lot of work to do to make this house or home but so far it's been surprisingly great. The kids have adjusted shockingly well and we had our first "we miss the old house" last week. Apparently Shiloh missed our old front door?! Otherwise they seem quite happy.. happy enough to continue waking up multiple times a night just to make sure we don't think things are super super great. Come visit us! |
