I mean maybe my other two were this nutty but I do not remember them having her level of crazy. She's hilarious, she's wild, she's nuts. And now we are in my most favourite parenting stage ever. Potty training. I hope you all collectively sighed in agony with me on that one. I told myself it took this long to potty train her because she's my last baby in diapers. And nothing beats a tanned child smelling of sunscreen wearing just a diaper. Right?? Right?? Okay fine. I should have started earlier. I realized when she was ready to be trained when I woke up to her sitting on the toilet pooping without any prompting at all. Or when she was wearing a dress at the bank and took her diaper off. And swung it around her head like a real star. (We are changing branches). I'm also learning that I really should have been a midwife or a doula. Because man have I been encouraging a lot of pushes lately. And am staring at anatomy getting really excited about something coming out. "Push, push pusssh!! Yes that's it!! I see it!! Good girl!!" Seriously. She also likes to analyze and describe, and sometimes even name, her little 'friends'. "Awww, Mom it's super cute!" "Soooo cute!!" "This one is just a little guy!" "Mom! This one looks like my playdoh!" "Jackson! Shiloh! Come see!! It's soooooo cute!" And on and on and on. I also dread public washrooms like I dread a cavity. Because Harper has no qualms about telling everyone as loudly as possible all about her relationship with the toilet. She will even make sure everyone knows if it smells and what it smells like. And don't forget about the number of wipes a poop requires. Plus she fits nicely under the stalls and also likes to give her opinions on the people sitting around us. This normally happens when I'm using the bathroom and unable to contain her. So if potty training isn't exciting enough... Harper tends to spent 3/4 of her day as a cat. A kitty that rubs up against my legs, begs for head scratches, only answers to kitty kitty. And imitates Edna (our cat) as often as possible. Here's to my daughter, the one I woke up to eating an entire can of whipping cream out of the fridge. She keeps me young. And has given me all my grey hairs.

7/11/2019 0 Comments schools out!School's out for the summer!! (please please have a song stuck in your head now... please please!)
I'm a little late with the post, surprise surprise. We've had a crazy awesome start to our summer and I feel like it's going by too fast! We celebrated the last day of school in style with a pizza picnic with friends at the beach, swimming until the park closed. It was perfectly chaotic with laughter, tears, sand in all the food, wonderfully greasy pizza and the best of friends. We also managed to make it up to my uncle's cottage resort in Muskoka's. One of my favourite places with some of my favourite weirdos. And who doesn't like to sleep 6 kids under 6 and 4 adults in a 2 bedroom cottage? I bet the people beside us don't :). My kids love spending all day swimming, paddle boarding, kayaking and getting eaten alive by black flies. Okay that part is a bit exaggerated. Shiloh had a pretty wicked hunchback vibe going on with all her bites. And they love playing with all the aunts and uncles. I heard many many times about how special Jackson is because he shares a birthday with his great aunt. Plus watching Jackson's face when my uncle attempted a belly flop off the boat into the lake was pretty awesome. And it's yard game central. Complete with Kuipers commentary at its finest. Things I wouldn't trade for the world. At one point I overheard Jackson talking to my nephew about Jesus being our Lord and our Master. Jackson responded with "come Holy Spirit. Come and be here now". And both boys broke into song about the Holy Spirit. Ugh my heart, my little pentacostals. I also loved the 15 billion hour (okay like 2.5) van ride in which my mom and I were serenaded by Shiloh's wonderful rendition of O Canada in several different languages, including one only she can speak and Jackson's absolutely perfect monotone singing voice. And of all the songs I attempt to teach my kids or play on repeat till I go brain dead, nothing seems to stick as well as the Black Eyed Peas "Boom Boom Pow". Mom of the year ladies and gentlemen. And I know you are all wondering about my sweet, very calm Harper. Well she's gets a future post all of her own. So here's to a summer full of adventures, laughter, beaches and endless BBQ's. And I'd like to end up as tanned as my daughter please and thank you. |
